Mother's Day

Hi Everyone,

For the Mother's out there, I hope you all had a great Mother's Day. We spent an action packed day with the kids starting with Eggs Benedict made by Rich, great gifts from the kids and then on to the new house to work a bit. And of course the day wasn't complete until we visiting Rich's Mom and played a few games with the kids while Rich's Mom enjoyed the fresh air. I went to the kids school on Friday for Muffins for Mom and was presented with very great gifts. Pictures painted of me with my favorite things. Aidan thinks I am 61 years old and that my job is a pilot. He loves me because I am cute! McKenna didn't give an age, but instead said that I am bigger than Daddy, my favorite thing to do is work (nice) and my favorite food is vegetables. Here are a few pix to enjoy.

New House

Well, it's not "new" but it's new to us. Here's the first picture of a room that is getting closer to being done - the kitchen - Rich's favorite room! We have the stove to the left and a big island from IKEA we have yet to put together, so it will be a small kitchen, but very open into the living room and dining room space. We are doing most of the work ourselves now and this is our IKEA kitchen. It's getting there, but wanted to give you a sneak peak. Rich was there working until 1am last night and he made great progress. We have a little time this weekend to focus on the house, so hopefully we will be in by the end of May!

It's May Already?

Hi,
Sorry it's been so long...we are so busy! We are trying to finish the new house in Ormewood park and get into it as soon as we can - so that is taking up all extra time. And Rich's Mom fell a few weeks ago and broke her hip so she had surgery and is now in a rehab facility. We now have to move her out of the apartment we just moved her into in February! The weekly visit to the apartment has now become the 3-4 times per week visit to the rehab facility. And we now have to start over again to find her a place to live after she gets through rehab - a 3-4 month process.

The kids are great and enjoying school. I have included a few pix the teacher's have sent. McKenna will be 5 on July 28th - so she is already counting down to her party. I have attached a picture of her and Rich at the school Science Fair where she showed off the planets that she made. And Aidan at the Fernbank Planetarium studying the planets.

We had a great time in NYC for our one year anniversary - staying right at The Hilton at ground zero. We spent some time starting down into that vast space of moving construction equipment and workers. It was a very moving experience to think back to that day. We promise to post photos soon on our trip!

Hope everyone is well!

Aidan's 6th Birthday

Hi Everyone,
Aidan turns 6 today and he celebrated with "The Force" by having a Star Wars party last Saturday night. Complete with a viewing of the entire Star Wars movie - the first one. He has seen them all and is obsessed with the characters right now and dressed up like Luke Skywalker, with McKenna as Princess Leia by his side! Here are a couple pix.

Also, the lottery for the Neighborhood Charter School was last week and McKenna got into Kindergarte, making Aidan jump to the top of the list for 1st Grade. We have been assured that he will get in before the school year starts. Both are doing great in school and suprising us with all that they know daily! Were we this smart at 4 and 6?

We are waiting to go through zoning to get started on the addition to the new house, so we are having to find some patience there. Rich's Mom has moved to her own apt. in an assisted living building not too far away, so we are semi-back to normal at home. The kids miss her and it's not the same at the dinner table, but she's close by for all of us to see whenever we can!

Rich and I will be heading to New York City for our 1 year anniversary - wow it's flown by - at the end of March. We need to figure out what hotel, etc. but we have our plane tickets so we are definitley going.

Thanks for tuning in! Talk to you soon!

Post Holiday Hatfield's

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since posted something, but when you find out what's happening in our world you will understand!

We had a great Holiday and New Year and the kids were very happy with their Santa Loot! They were off school for three weeks so there was lots of shuffling between us and Christine, but we made it though. Rich's Mom came up on the 22nd to spend the Holidays with us, and she is still here! She is having some health issues, so she will be staying with us until we find her the appriate place to call home. So Rich has been wonderful in taking care of yet another person! He is definitely Superman. It's been a bit hard on the family as there is NO alone time, and the kids have to share the top bunk so La La can sleep on the bottom bunk. So in our 900 square foot house we have three adults, two kids and two dogs. And one bathroom might I add! It is temporary so we are just looking forward to getting back to normal.

And to add to our list of thing "to do" we just bought a house in Ormewood Park, which is closer into town...where we both have wanted to live. It's very close to the Zoo and parks - including a dog park. It's a very active neighborhood and there is a Charter School that we are hoping to get the kids into - so keep your fingers crossed as we register on 2/4. Other options would have to be private schools with tuition and we would rather not go that route!

So....we are busy, busy here trying to take care of everyone and everything in our lives. We love each other very much and it's sometimes a struggle, but it's so worth it!

I have included a few pix from the kids school. We haven't been taking any lately, but I'm sure we will get back to that soon, as well!

Love you all!
